Margaret Wilkes, MD, FACR
Margaret Wilkes, M.D. is a practicing rheumatologist, treating a wide range of arthritic and rheumatic disorders. She stresses patient education and involvement in healthcare decisions to provide the best possible outcome for her patients.
Before obtaining her medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, where she was a Walter Lewis Croll Scholar, Dr. Wilkes graduated magna cum laude from Bucknell University as a commended scholar-athlete. Dr. Wilkes completed both her internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Jackson Memorial Hospital/University of Miami School of Medicine. She furthered her medical education as a fellow in Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology at the University Health Center of Pittsburgh/University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
Dr. Wilkes has been in private practice at RASF since 2003, and currently serves as an Affiliate Clinical Professor at Florida Atlantic University's Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine. Dr. Wilkes has been actively involved in clinical research studies involving osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and other autoimmune diseases. She has been invited to give numerous lectures, is published in the field of myositis, and has presented her research at the American College of Rheumatology’s national scientific meeting.
Dr. Wilkes is professionally active in both local and national communities. She is a member of several medical societies including the American College of Physicians, Palm Beach County Medical Association, Florida Medical Association, and Florida Society of Rheumatology. She is a fellow of the American College of Rheumatology (ACR), and was appointed to the ACR’s Annual Meeting Planning Committee. Due to her interest in osteoporosis, Dr. Wilkes has served as a moderator for the Osteoporosis Clinical Symposia at the national ACR scientific meeting in 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015.
Board certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology, Dr. Wilkes is dedicated to the care of all of her patients. She has proudly served the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs as an attending physician, and has volunteered her medical services locally as well as abroad.
Dr. Wilkes currently maintains hospital privileges at Boca Raton Regional Hospital and Delray Medical Center.
